“Sparus Aurata/Mare Internum”

"Video art "Sparus Aurata" is part of the tetralogy “Mare Internum” in which the artist creates an allegorical story regarding the beginning of the 21st century in Europe. Her combined inspiration consists ofan inverse parallelism of myth “Rapture of Europe”, the central idea of “Great Chimera” -a book by M. Karagatsis- and the “hot” refugee issue of recent years."

"Sparus Aurata" is also a metaphor for the way modern civilization cuts and redistributes wealth, in essence, the very human being.

Aliki Arnaouti is a graduate of the Theater Studies Department at the National University of Athens (N.K.U.A.) and has completed a MA degree in the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London. She works as a visual artist (video installation, net based installation, installation and video art) and as an independent photographer and video maker in Switzerland and Greece. She has designed settings and costumes for theater and dance performances in Athens and London. She has studied painting with artist P. St. Skliris and stage & costume designing with L. Chrysikopoulou. Her works are exhibited in private collections in Greece, Switzerland, Austria, France and Germany.

Video art “Sparus Aurata” was presented as video mapping and part of site specific installation "Europass" on the withdrawn / anchored ships in the port of Elefsina at «Aisxylia 2016» festival
